The latest gambling facility to open in Ohio has gotten off to a strong start.
According to the Associated Press, Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway, which opened Aug. 28, won nearly $1.9 million from gamblers during the four days it was open.
The racino opened with 1,010 slot machines.
“Opening on a holiday weekend certainly helped matters,” Hollywood Gaming general manager Gary DeWitt told the Dayton Daily News. “But overall, what’s been really encouraging is the guests really like what they see in regards to the look, the feel. We’ve had nothing but positive comments about the facility and that keeps us really motivated.”
The facility is operated by Penn National Gaming.
A seventh racino in the Buckeye State—Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course near Youngstown—is scheduled to open later this month.
Statewide, the six racinos brought in $57.5 million in revenue in August, while Ohio’s four casinos won $70.7 million from gamblers during the month.
