The former head of the American Gaming Association, the commercial casino industry’s top lobbying group on Capitol Hill, will be joining the Harvard Institute of Politics, The Boston Globe reported.
Frank Fahrenkopf reportedly will be lecturing on bipartisanship in modern politics.
Fahrenkopf, also a former chair of the Republican National Committee, served as the president and CEO of the AGA from 1995 to 2013.
In April of last year, the AGA picked Geoff Freeman to take over for Fahrenkopf.
During his time with the AGA, Fahrenkopf testified in front of federal lawmakers on the topic of Internet gaming.
Fahrenkopf was in clear support of a federal online poker bill, though it was hard to find support from both sides of the aisle. Fahrenkopf will likely be lecturing about the dysfunctional nature of the current political landscape in the U.S.
“I think it’s just healthy to have a free and open exchange of different political views and ideas, he told The Globe. “That’s what’s missing in today’s politics. I have some theories as to why and I’m going to have some people up to talk to my lecture groups in my semester there. Not that I’m hopeful we’re going to solve the problems of Washington or the world in that time, but I’m hoping there will come some ideas that may give birth to some serious considerations.”
