The second-ever running of the World Series of Poker Asia Pacific is set to kick off next week, running from October 2nd through the 18th at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia.

In just over two weeks down under there will be 10 WSOP gold bracelets awarded, double the amount that were handed out in the festival’s first incarnation. The first eight WSOP gold bracelet events will have their final tables live streamed worldwide online via WSOP.com. Plus – an international poker event first – the WSOP APAC Main Event and $25,000 High Roller event will both be shown on Oct. 17-18 in the U.S. and Australia on ESPN with hole cards on a 30-minute delay starting at 3 pm local time.

Daniel Negreanu“With 10 gold bracelets on the line and video of every event, we are thrilled to be at Crown in Melbourne to finish what has been an exceptional year for the WSOP,” said WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart.

Among the new events this year are a $25,000 AUD no-limit hold’em high roller event, a $5,000 AUD pot-limit Omaha tournament and a $1,650 eight-game dealer’s choice.

The centerpiece of the whole affair will once again be the $10,000 AUD WSOP APAC no-limit hold’em main event. The inaugural running of this event drew 405 entrants, with none other than Daniel Negreanu emerging victorious with his fifth WSOP bracelet and the $1,038,825 first-place prize. Negreanu went on to win the Card Player Player of the Year award thanks in large part to this historic win.
