The Planet Hollywood Las Vegas is set to kick off the 2014 PHamous Poker Series VI starting on October 9th and running through the 12th. The three-event series features guaranteed prize pools for every tournament, with the centerpiece of the whole affair being the $500,000 guaranteed $565 buy-in no-limit hold’em event that begins with the first of three starting days at noon local time on Oct. 9th.
The main event, known as the ‘feature presentation’ in a nod to the host Casino’s Hollywood theme, gives players 20,000 in starting chips and 40 minute levels. Blinds open at 50-100, which means that players start with 200 big blinds. With a guaranteed prize pool of over half a million dollars, the casino is also promising a first-place payout of at least $100,000.
The high stakes poker action won’t be the only top-level strategy game taking place at Planet Hollywood this week. There will also be a huge chess tournament taking place simultaneously, with $100,000 also guaranteed to go to the winner of that event.
“There will be great action on the Mezz this week,” said Poker Room Manager Chris Gawlik. “Chess players will be competing for $1,000,000 and poker players competing for over $500,000 during the Phamous Poker Series!”
