Some of the main contenders made big moves this week in the 2014 Card Player Player of the Year race, sponsored by CarbonPoker. Here is a look at the biggest results on the live poker tournament circuit over the past seven days:
ACOP Super High Roller
Another super high roller, another final table for year-dominator Daniel Colman. A total of 52 players showed up to the City of Dreams in Macau and posted the $500,000 HKD ($64,500 USD) buy-in in the 2014 Asia Championship of Poker super high roller, with 50 rebuys made building a prize pool worth $6,250,534 USD.
Colman, who has won four gigantic tournaments this year already (including the $1 million Big One For One Drop at the WSOP), made his eighth final table in this event. He finished seventh for $373,972 and 128 Player of the Year points. This was his also his eighth cash of the year for six figures or more, brining his total year-to-date earnings to $22,319,279. He already had the lead in the overall POY points race, and now sits 820 points ahead of second-place occupant Mike Leah.

Colman wasn’t the only POY contender to climb as a result of making this final table, however. Fellow top-twenty occupant Davidi Kitai also squeaked into the final table, earning $312,124 for his eighth place finish. The Belgian pro also scored 85 POY points for his sixth final table appearance of the year, solidifying his 18th-place ranking in the overall standings.
Pratyush Buddiga, who was at his fifth final table of the year, placed third for $844,660 and the largest payday of his career. The American poker pro also notched 340 POY points, which catapulted him into 21st place in the rankings with year-to-date earnings of $1,262,420.
Joseph Cheong placed fifth in this event for $528,718 and 213 POY points. The former November Niner has already won two titles in 2014 and made a total of six final tables. This was by far the biggest of his scores this year though, and it saw him climb to 41st place in the overall standings as a result.
In the end Steve O’Dwyer was the champion in the event, defeating Ryan Fee heads-up for the title, the $1,811,828 first-place prize and 510 POY points. O"Dwyer had two prior final table finished, but both came in small events and this win only raised him to 552nd place in the POY rankings.
