Americas Cardroom Debuts The Cage With $330K Prize PoolThe Winning Millions $1 Million Guaranteed Tournament Coming Soon |

Let’s face it, there’s been little to get excited about being an online poker player from the US over the last four years. Big stakes poker and massive tournament prize pools seemed to have gone by the wayside and be a thing of the past.
The latest promotion from Americas Cardroom (ACR) dubbed ‘The Cage’ may have just changed all of that. Fresh off the announcement of The Winning Millions $1 million GTD tournament on Dec. 14, ACR created a promotion that lets the average player compete in massive stakes against the internet’s online poker elite.
As poker players, we all wonder how we’d stack up in a high stakes game. Opportunity seems limited. Nosebleed stakes games are few and far between these days and usually run a short time, if at all. This is no longer the case at ACR. The Cage introduced the first-ever high stakes, six-max cash game in a time based tournament format which levels the playing field and gives everyone a shot at heart pounding, high stakes action.
You enter ‘The Cage’ by either qualifying via satellite or buying in directly for $5,000+$100. Once qualified or bought in, you may not unregister and must play the whole allotted time of the tournament. If you are eliminated (run out of chips) you may not rebuy, but if you survive the 3-4 hour duration of the tournament, you then convert whatever chips you have in front of you to cash. Whether you have $1,000, $15,000 or even $50,000 in chips when the time runs out, it’s yours to keep.
The Cage turns up the heat by increasing the blinds and antes every level. The event starts off with blinds at $10-$20 with $2 antes, increase in the second level with $25-$50 blinds and $5 antes, and cap off at a massive $50-$100 level with $10 antes.
The Cage debuted last month on ACR and its inaugural run defied all expectations. In total, 66 players participated by either buying in directly or qualifying via satellite. The tournament duration was 3 hours and the big winner of the day was player ‘bik6624235’ who emerged with just shy of $30,000.
Let’s put this into perspective. When was the last time you saw any site have 11 tables of $10-$20 cash games, let alone $50-$100? My guess is a very long time.
By all accounts the debut was a huge success, so much so that ACR received an influx of players wanting more information on the next event. ACR responded in kind by doing three things. They extended the levels of the Texas hold’em rendition of ‘The Cage’ to an hour and twenty minutes, scheduled the next Texas hold’em round for Nov. 12 at 8 pm ET, and created ‘The Cage PLO’ four-hour long event to make its debut on Nov. 26.
What’s great about The Cage is that everyone who has $1.65 has got a shot at a seat. ACR has put together a super satellite and satellite schedules in which players can win their seat for a fraction of the cost.
ACR has been pushing the envelope on the promotional front of late. Since Black Friday, no US facing online poker site has come close to breaking a $1 million GTD tournament barrier, which was once the norm. A few months back, ACR announced it would be rising to this challenge through its Winning Millions tournament on Dec. 14, 2014 at 3 pm ET. This is the single biggest online poker tournament for US players in nearly four years.
Again, they managed to pull this off through innovation. ACR allowed substantial lead up time to the tournament while posting 600+ daily satellites for players to continually qualify.
Qualifiers and satellites are now posted for The Cage, The Cage PLO and The Winning Millions. New players are eligible for a first-time deposit bonus of 100 percent up to $1,000. It’s finally time to get excited about online poker again in the US! Deposit now to take your seat and make life-changing money.
