Oscar-winning screenwriter Aaron Sorkin has been tapped to pen the film adaptation of Molly Bloom’s book about her underground poker games that catered to celebrities.
Celebs who played in Bloom-run games in L.A. or New York include Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. Her book, “Molly’s Game: High Stakes, Hollywood’s Elite, Hotshot Bankers, My Life in the World of Underground Poker,” was published this year.
Bloom was indicted by the federal government for her role in a gambling ring that allegedly had links to the Russian mob. This past summer, Bloom received probation and paid a tiny fine.
An excerpt from Bloom’s book was published in Vanity Fair in June, and in the section she said that actor Tobey Maguire once asked her to “bark like a seal who wants a fish” for a $1,000 chip. Bloom said she refused the misogynistic offer.
It’s unclear if any of the actors mentioned will appear in the yet-to-be-titled film.
