Anthony Zinno is already a two-time World Poker Tour main event champion, but the 33-year-old poker pro from Cranston, Rhode Island now has a chance to join Carlos Mortensen and Gus Hansen as only the third ever three-time WPT winner. Zinno’s second win came in the last WPT main event, the Fallsview Poker Classic.
Now just over two weeks after winning that tournament he sits among the final six at the WPT L.A. Poker Classic $10,000 no-limit hold’em main event.
Zinno will hardly have an easy run at his third WPT title however. He will come into the final table in fifth chip position, and he has a number of tough opponents to contend with including WSOP bracelet winner Mike Leah (4,715,000 in chips), Peter Neff (2,120,000 in chips) and Chris Klodnicki (920,000 in chips), who will be looking to add to his live tournament earnings of $7.5 million. The chip leader going into the final day is Igor Yaroshevskyy with 5,315,00.
A total of 538 players entered this year’s LAPC main event, building a prize pool of $5,164,800. The final six are all guaranteed to cash for at least $200,830 but surely all six have their hearts set on the title and the first-place prize of $1,015,860. Which of the remaining players will add their name to prestigious list of prior champions in this event that includes the likes of Phil Ivey, Antonio Esfandiari, Michael Mizrachi and Gus Hansen? Only time will tell.
Here is a look at the chip counts of the final six players:
