Nevada Bill Seeks State Lotto IndustryLegislation Is An Extreme Long Shot, However |

A proposal in Nevada calls for the state to establish a lottery. Nevada is arguably the most gambling-friendly state in the nation, but it doesn’t have a lotto like many others.
On Tuesday, Assemblyman Harvey Munford, a Democrat, introduced AJR 6.
Revenues from the lottery would go toward “support of the public education of children and the health and welfare of senior citizens.” Nevada has some of the worst schools in the country. They’ve been called “dropout factories.”
The bill could face stiff opposition from casino companies that most likely see the lotto as an encroachment on their casino revenue. Las Vegas Sands Corp. has already indicated it will be opposing the bill, according to the Associated Press.
According to the report, the resolution would need to be approved in two consecutive legislative sessions and then go before voters in 2018. Don’t get your hopes up if you are a lottery lover, though. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, dozens of such proposals have been rejected over the last couple decades in the Silver State.
