The third exciting year of the Hollywood Poker Open is in full swing and heading to the Mid-Atlantic. Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races in West Virginia will host the upcoming HPO Regional Tournament beginning Apr. 30 and running through May 10. Once again, regional play features poker champion Chris Moneymaker with head-to-head action culminating the weekend of the Main Event ($1,115 buy-in) starting May 9. The winner walks away with a seat to the $500,000 Guaranteed HPO Championship at the M Resort in Las Vegas this June.
Located less than an hour’s drive from the Baltimore and Washington D.C. beltways, Hollywood Casino’s usual 26 poker tables will be increased to over 50 tables to accommodate all the participants in the Regional Tournament. Thousands of players throughout the region and beyond are expected to participate in over 30 events in just 11 action-packed days.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to be hosting the Hollywood Poker Open Regional Tournament once again,” said Aaron Shreve, Poker Manager at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races. “Our poker players get a chance to play some of the best players around including Chris Moneymaker, win some huge cash prizes, and maybe even a seat to the Main Event in Vegas.”
The chance to play against Chris Moneymaker is one of the big draws of the regional tournaments. In addition to regular HPO events, the legendary player sits in at random satellites giving many an opportunity to match skills with one of poker’s best.
The third season also features beautiful tournament trophies for those who win designated events. Plus, the player with the highest point total in the 11 featured events will receive an incredible Regional Points Champion trophy.
A complete schedule and entry information is available at www.hollywoodpokeropen.com or www.hollywoodcasinocharlestown.com.
Following the action in Charles Town, the next HPO regional tournament will be held at Hollywood Casino Columbus May 14-24.
“Poker players have come to know Hollywood and its reputation for hosting some of the hottest poker action in the industry,” said Gaye Gullo, Penn National Corporate Vice President of Marketing. “The Hollywood Poker Open is fast becoming an annual rite for players everywhere.”
