Nick Weinberg cleared the house with a full-house. That’s how the end of the Card Player Poker Tour Atlantis $1,080 no-limit hold’em $150,000 guarantee main event came to an end Mar. 29.

After 148 players had been sent to the rail over the course of three days, Weinberg and James Colson were staring at the finish line of the tournament, across which waited the title of CPPT champion and $38,625.

After a flop of AClub Suit8Spade Suit4Club Suit Colson checked and Weinberg bet 40,000. Colson made it 135,000 to go and Weinberg called. The turn was the 3Spade Suit and Colson announced he was all-in. Weinberg snap-called and the hands were turned over. Weinberg held 4Heart Suit4Spade Suit for a flopped set and Colson had ADiamond Suit9Spade Suit for a pair of aces. The ASpade Suit on the river signaled the end of the tournament with a full-house for Weinberg.

“It’s my first big win. It’s my first little win. It’s my first any time win,” Weinberg said.

Before the 25-year old Berkley, Calif. resident could add the win to his resume he had to get past a final table that included 2012 winner Randy Gil, World Series of Poker bracelet winner Jesse Rockowitz and Atlantis tournament regular Mike Harvey.

For Colson, a runner-up finish was nothing to be upset about. The addition of $27,045 to his bankroll and a second-place finish in what was only his second major tournament was a nice way to end the night. Colson’s first big tournament in January ended with a fourth-place finish in the Heartland Poker Tour Thunder Valley main event for a $44,968 payday.

“It feels good,” he said of his breakout success.
