A total of 2,155 players bought into the latest $1,500 no-limit hold’em event at the 2015 World Series of Poker, creating a prize pool of $2,909,250 to be paid out to the final 216 players.
After four days of action, it was 25-year-old poker pro Alex Lindop who came out on top, earning his first career bracelet and the $531,037 first-place prize. Lindop, from Stoke-on-Trent, U.K., became the third British bracelet winner of the summer.
“It really feels amazing to win,” Lindop said. “I’d had a few deep runs before, but they
always fizzled. To come here and have this happen is just amazing. There are no words to describe the feeling I have right now. I really don’t know what I’m going to do with the money. I guess when I get back home, I’ll have to throw a big party.”
The tournament also marked the return of 2006 WSOP main event winner Jamie Gold, who made the final table and finished in fifth place, earning $120,952. It was the largest score of his career outside of the $12 million he won for taking down the main event.
Gold credited a retooling of his game for his deep run.
Other notables who finished in the money included Ari Engel (14th), Harrison Gimbel (18th), Jesse Yaginuma (20th), Joe Kuether (23rd), William Reynolds (27th), Mario Silvestri (28th), Zo Karim (39th), Bart Hanson (42nd) and Athanasios Polychronopoulos (50th).
