‘Coenaldinho7’ topped a field of 1,995 entries in the $5,200 buy-in PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) no-limit hold’em main event, winning $1.3 million and the title after making a four-handed deal.
The final four agreed on securing payouts based on their relative chip positions that left the WCOOP bracelet and $200,000 to play for.
‘Coenaldinho7’ entered the nine-handed final table with just over ten big blinds, the shortest stack of the final table. Russia’s Alexander ‘joiso’ Kostritsyn came in with the largest stack, but flamed out in eighth place for $150,000.
In an interview with the PokerStars Blog ‘Coenaldinho7’ divulged that he was 36-year-old living in Limburg who works for a Belgian meat producer, but declined to reveal his name. He did note that the experience of winning this monumental event was made even more stressful given that he has a newborn child.
“With work and a five-month-old baby, I don’t get spare or free time,” he told thePokerStars Blog. “I must say these three nights (of WCOOP Main Event) were tough. No sleep, the next day at work as usual, and in the evening babysitting (my girlfriend often works late). When she arrived, I’d be at my computer…making history as it turned out.”
On the final hand ‘Coenaldinho7’ and ‘AlwaysiNduCe’ saw a flop of T52. ‘Coenaldinho7’ checked and ‘AlwaysiNduCe’ bet 2 million. ‘Coenaldinho7’ raised to 6 million and ‘AlwaysiNduCe’ called. The turn brought the K and all of the chips went in the middle. AlwaysiNduCe had turned two pair and looked to be doubling up until the 10 came off on the river to give ‘Coenaldinho7’ trip tens, the pot and the title.
