DraftKings: Week 5 NFL DFS Picks

Here's Some Daily Fantasy Sports Tips From An Expert

Last week, we were focused on tournament targets for the DraftKings Millionaire Maker event. There were some misses in there, but Leonard Hankerson paid off really handsomely at a $3,700 price tag and only 1 percent ownership.

This week, I’m going to be focusing on cash game targets by focusing on my ‘core four’. This will be one player at each position who appears to have a very good shot to be in my DraftKings cash game lineup as of this writing.

QB

Tom Brady ($7,800) – With the Patriots seemingly on a mission to destroy teams like it was 2007 all over again this year, Brady possesses a floor and upside combination that other quarterbacks struggle to compete with. Throw in the fact that they check in with the highest projected team total and face a Dallas team that will struggle to possess the ball without Tony Romo and Dez Bryant, and they don’t come much safer than Brady this week. With so many other studs in great matchups this week, I’m not certain to have Brady in my cash game lineup, but it’s tough to go wrong with him.

RB

Dion Lewis ($4,800) – As I was thinking about this week prior to seeing any salaries, I was considering Dion Lewis on DraftKings and what I would pay for him. The number I had in my head was around $6,000, so when I opened up DraftKings to find he was $4,800 I felt fairly certain that he would be involved in my cash game lineup. The Patriots are known for being extremely unpredictable with their running back usage, which would normally make me shy away in cash games. However, even though it’s early in the season, Dion seems a little different to me. People are worried about LeGarrette Blount from the week 3 game with the Jaguars, but most of that usage was in the second half with the game well in hand. From what I’ve seen, I’m willing to roll with Lewis until proven otherwise.

WR

Willie Snead ($3,000) – Fantasy sports are great. Willie Snead is an undrafted, second-year receiver out of Ball State University who didn’t record a single catch in his rookie year and was plucked by the Saints prior to this season. Yet here he is, only four weeks into the season and I’m writing him up. Snead has seen his snap percentage go from 24 to 50 to 61 to 66 in last week’s win over Dallas. He’s also seen at least six targets in each of his last three games. For the bare minimum salary and playing with Drew Brees against the uptempo Eagles, he should definitely be on your radar in cash games and tournaments alike on DraftKings this week.

TE

Rob Gronkowski ($7,500) – Tight end is a very rough position to fill most weeks. Many of the players are very inconsistent as they are not integral parts of their offense. The same can’t be said for Gronk. He is one of the most talented players in the league and is an extremely important part of the Patriots’ top-notch offense in all areas of the field. While he his priced about right for his likely range of outcomes, he provides safety at a position where it’s very hard to find that safety. He also provides week in and week out upside at tight end, which can’t really be said for any other player at the position. I don’t think Gronkowski is a must play, but I sure like the looks of all my lineups that include him more than the ones that don’t.
