Japanese Casino Bill Likely Dead For 2015Talks Expected To Resume Next Year On Vegas-Style Casinos |

Though it was already known that casinos in Japan won’t be open in time for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, there was additional bad news for the casino push in the country this week, as the government has decided to wind down for the year rather than hold an extraordinary session, according to GGRAsia.
That means that the casino bill is likely done for the rest of the year. A casino bill was submitted in April, but that was considered long overdue.
It has been estimated that Japan’s casino industry could be worth $40 billion a year in gaming revenue, which would put it slightly below Macau’s peak.
The year 2022 is now a more likely date for the first Las Vegas-style casino to open in Japan, the report said. Japan is a hot spot for tourists and has one of the world’s top economies.
The Japanese government isn’t united on casinos. There was a study last year that found five percent of adults in the country are already addicted to gambling. Legalized betting exists on pachinko, a popular pinball-like slot machine that awards prizes.
