Draftpot: Week 13 NFL DFS PicksHere's Some Daily Fantasy Sports Tips From An Expert |
|
Each week, DFS players dig into the NFL with the goal of identifying players that have value at cheap prices on DFS sites. This allows us to create lineups that have superstar players without being weak at other positions. Some weeks, the value isn’t there and a more balanced lineup is the best approach. Most weeks, though, we should be able to identify a few cheap plays using snap counts, touches and target data combined with the injury report.
This week, I’ll be looking at each position on Draftpot for one player that stands out for their excess value in week 13 based on their Draftpot Points Per Game (DPPG). Remember, Draftpot uses DPPG instead of salary so that is the measure we’ll use here.

QB
Ben Roethlisberger (14.48 DPPG) – Assuming he clears league concussion protocol and is able to play on Sunday, this selection is a slam dunk for me. Ben may be my top quarterback play of the week. So the fact that twenty-two quarterbacks will cost you more to use on Draftpot this week makes him clearly the most valuable of the lot. The Steelers offense has shown flashes of what it could have been this year and in those flashes they’ve been dominant. In the three home games that he’s played in this year, Ben has eclipsed 300 yards and thrown multiple touchdowns in each. After a 456 yard performance in Seattle, I’m expecting more of the same this week at home against the Colts.
RB
Deangelo Williams (8.56 DPPG) – Um, go Steelers! In the five games that Le’Veon Bell has missed this year, Deangelo has slapped up 635 total yards, 15 receptions and six touchdowns. There’s very little to dispute the idea that he’s a top five running back play this week. With the Steelers being at home and likely good sized favorites if Roethlisberger plays, the gameflow should set up well for Deangelo to pile up carries and yards in the second half. With the quality of the Steelers offense, he should have at least a couple opportunities to find paydirt as well.
WR
Brandon Lafell (7.65 DPPG) – Lafell played one hundred percent of the snaps for the Patriots last week. With as many injuries as the Patriots have suffered, there’s no reason to think he won’t play the same amount or very close to it this week. In addition, he’s going from possibly the worst matchup in the league against the Broncos to possibly the best matchup in the league against the Eagles this week. If we’re being honest, Lafell has played poorly this year since returning from injury mid-season. But this kind of opportunity and volume don’t pop up very often on a top-notch offense for a cheap player on DFS sites, so take advantage while it’s here.
TE
Scott Chandler (6.03 DPPG) – Lafell’s teammate Chandler is in a similar position this week. Due to injuries, Chandler should play nearly every snap for the Patriots this week in what should be one of the highest scoring games of the week. While he’s had a reasonable career thus far, Chandler is far from a household name. He does, however, project to be one of Tom Brady’s main targets with Rob Gronkowski likely to miss the game this Sunday at home against the Eagles. With tight end being a tough position to find value each week, you could certainly do worse than Chandler this week.
