DraftKings: Week 14 NFL DFS Picks

Here's Some Daily Fantasy Sports Tips From An Expert

This week is an interesting one for NFL Daily Fantasy Sports to me in that there are a lot of players to like and few to love. Oftentimes when you feel that way about a DFS slate, it makes sense to use multiple lineups in cash games if you truly think they’re nearly equal in terms of value. Instead of discussing one DraftKings player at each spot that sticks out to me this week, I’m going to touch on two

QB

Russell Wilson ($6,300) and Tyrod Taylor ($5,400) – I’m writing these two up together because they’re eerily similar this week. Both Wilson and Taylor scare me a bit due to lack of volume in the pass game. They also both have fantastic matchups and provide fantasy points with their legs. The icing on the cake is that each player is coming into week 14 scorching, with Taylor scoring 27 or more DraftKings points in each of his last two games and Wilson scoring 34 or more in his last two. There isn’t a hands down top quarterback play this week, so these two make sense as salary cap savers.

RB

Lesean McCoy ($6,100) – McCoy has had a really underrated season thus far. Coming into week 14, he has seven consecutive games of 13 or more DraftKings points, meaning he likely has a floor that is not going to hurt you. His main competition for carries, Karlos Williams, may miss this game. And McCoy has a big revenge narrative with the Eagles. He checks all the boxes this week for DFS.

Ronnie Hillman ($4,700) – This selection is entirely dependent on the health of C.J. Anderson. Anderson suffered an ankle injury in the week 13 win in San Diego and wasn’t able to finish the game. Hillman piled up 19 carries in that game despite seeing only 57% of the snaps. If Anderson can’t go, I expect Hillman to see 17-20 touches and over 75 percent of the snaps in a game the Broncos are favored by a touchdown at home.

WR

Alshon Jeffery ($6,900) – Sometimes, when you believe you’re right, you have to go back to the well. That’s where I’m at here with Jeffery, who disappointed a bit last week. There’s just no way he should cost $6,900 seeing the kind of volume he does combined with the talent he possesses. In another fairly soft matchup at home against a Redskins team that enters ranked 23rd in Football Outsiders pass defense DVOA, I’m back in on Alshon.

Danny Amendola ($5,200) – This is the furthest it gets from sexy. With New England’s pass catching corps so banged up, Amendola is seeing a ton of high percentage targets that are gold in PPR formats. Last week, he turned 13 targets into a 7-62-1 line, which paid off handsomely in DFS. Expect more of the same Sunday night in Houston.

TE

Jordan Reed ($5,100) – Reed is one of the best fantasy tight ends in the NFL. One knock on him in the past has been his playing time, which will usually sit around 65-80 percent of the snaps. In the last two weeks, however, Reed has played 90 and 95 percent of the snaps, resulting in nine and eight target games. While he’s coming off a measly 3-33 performance in week 13, I like Reed to bounce back.

Scott Chandler ($3,800) – This play is also dependent on the health of a teammate. Rob Gronkowski is unlikely to play this week and Chandler will step in for him again if that’s the case. Last week, Chandler saw seven targets and turned in a 4-61-1 line. That’s all you could ever ask for when you’re looking to save at tight end.
