Registration is closed and the numbers are in for the 2015 World Poker Tour Five Diamond World Poker Classic. With 639 total entries the total prizepool swelled to $6,198,300. This is the second biggest turnout ever for this event, with the record being 664 players in season XI, back in 2007. It’s worth noting, though, that this event sported a $15,400 buy-in up until 2010, at which point it shifted to a $10,400 buy-in. This year also allowed unlimited re-entry.

The top 63 finishers will make the money this year, with $21,074 for a min-cash and a first-place prize of $1,587,382 awaiting the eventual champion.

Registration remained open in the event until well into the evening on day 2. At the end of the day only 244 players remained. The largest stack in the room heading into day 3 according the the WPT’s live updates is Matt Glantz with 239,700. Other notables with big stacks include Paul Volpe (239,100), Curt Kohlberg (216,700), Keven Stammen (214,400), Brian Rast (198,700) and Kevin Saul (192,400).

Plenty of big names did not survive the day including Scotty Nguyen, Sorel Mizzi, Mike Leah, Marvin Rettenmaier, Erik Seidel, Jennifer Harman and Benjamin Zamani.

Play resumes at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 16. The event is scheduled to continue until a champion is decided at the final table on Dec. 19. Stay tuned to Card Player for more coverage of this exciting event.
