The Card Player Poker Tour Venetian main event continued on Monday with day 1B as part of the DeepStack Extravaganza III, a series boasting more than $16 million in guarantees this summer.

The $5,000 buy-in main event kicked off at noon with the second of three starting flights. Each player began with 25,000 in chips and benefited from a generous structure of 75-minute blind levels. The levels will increase to 90-minutes beginning on day 2.

A total of 91 showed for day 1B action and only 36 made it through the day. When combined with the day 1A field of 42, the official number of runners now stands at 133 going into the final starting flight. Players can also enter for the first two levels of day 2. As is the case with most live tournaments, the fields for day 1C and 2 will undoubtedly be much larger.

Rainer KempeAfter eight levels of action, it was Viktor Lavi who ended the day on top of the leaderboard with 118,300. Lavi made a flush and won a big pot with just ten minutes left in the evening to take the lead. Other notables with big stacks include Kyle Keranen, Joey Weissman, Aditya Prasetyo, Jeremy Ausmus, Lily Kiletto, Artem Metalidi and 2016 Super High Roller Bowl champion Rainer Kempe.

The CPPT made its last appearance at the Venetian back in 2013. That event was won by Card Player’s own Allyn Shulman, who picked up the $293,966 first-place prize. Shulman was in the field on day 1B, but failed to advance to day 2.

Other notables who failed to bag up their chips for the night included Michael Mizrachi, Chino Rheem, Steve Gross, Dimitar Danchev, Joseph Cheong, Pratyush Buddiga, Adrian Mateos Diaz and Jared Jaffee.

Here’s a look at the chip counts from the day 1B field. Click here to read more about day 1A.
