Jared Hamby recently spoke to Card Player Magazine about the disappointment he felt because of his lack of live tournament results. He also promised that that would change. At the time, he had less than $20,000 in live tournament poker wins, which was just a drop in the bucket filled with money won through poker.

The online pro, who has won thousands and thousands of dollars playing under the name "TheWacoKidd," stayed true to his word and wound up winning not one, but two events at the Bellagio's Five Star World Poker Classic that's now taking place.

First, on April 10, Hamby received $223,780 for winning the $2,500 no-limit hold'em event with 251 players. He had to come from way behind when he got to heads up with Card Player's own Jeff Shulman. He also won a $25,000 entry to the WPT Championship that starts Friday. Then, five days later, he won the $2,000 no-limit hold'em event that attracted 483 players for another $298,955. That's $522,735 in less than a week.

He also is now ranked sixth in the world on Card Player's Player of the Year leader board.

Hamby will star in Card Player's Gen Next feature article that comes out April 25, an article by Craig Tapscott that was written well before his live success. In the article, he describes how he's seen more than a million hands and talks about how to play the short stack well, something he did against Shulman last week.
