2016 Card Player Player of the Year -- Sylvia and Savage Win

A Look At The Biggest Poker Tournament Results Of The Week

Autumn is here in the 2016 Card Player Player of the Year race. But as the leaves fall players are rising up the POY rankings. Here is a look at the events that most impacted the standings:

World Poker Tour Borgata Poker Open

Jesse SylviaA total of 1,179 entries were made in the 2016 World Poker Tour Borgata Poker Open $3,500 no-limit hold’em main event, easily surpassing the $3 million guarantee to build a final prize pool of $3,773,979.

In the end the last player standing was 2012 World Series of Poker main event runner-up Jesse Sylvia. The poker pro overcame entering the final day as the short stack to capture his first WPT title and the top prize of $821,811.

Sylvia was also awarded 1,440 POY points for the win. This was his first POY-qualified score of the year, but it alone was enough to move him into 129th place in the overall standings.

Farid Jattin, who was the chip leader to start the final table, finished sixth for $167,942 and 480 points. Jattin finished fifth in this year’s WPT L.A. Poker Classic main event for another $238,070 and 875 points. With seven final table finishes, 1,937 total POY points and year-to-date earnings of $521,769 he now sits in 71st place on the leader board.

WSOP Circuit IP Biloxi

The World Series of Poker Circuit IP Biloxi $1,675 no-limit hold’em main event attracted 382 entries to build a prize pool of $573,000.

Chris Savage emerged victorious from the field to capture his first WSOPC gold ring and the top prize of $126,059. Savage also earned 600 POY points for the win, his first live cash in over seven years. Incidentally this was the largest live tournament score of his career.

Joining savage at the final table was T.K. Miles. Miles ultimately finished seventh for $18,943 and 150 POY points. This was his fifth final table score of the year. With 1,052 points and $146,372 in tournament earnings he has climbed to 237th place in the standings.
