The Monte-Carlo One Drop Extravaganza is a brand new series of high roller events, set to take place at the Casino de Monte-Carlo in Monaco from October 13-17. The series will feature a number of high roller events and cash games, but the centerpiece of the whole affair is the €1,000,0000 buy-in Big One For One Drop event, which will set the record for the largest buy-in tournament in history due to the current value of the Euro against the dollar.
Organizers have recently announced that 35 players are confirmed for the event, which kicks off at noon local time on Friday, Oct. 14. That means that the prize pool has grown at least €31,111,115 with room to grow, as there is still plenty of time for more entrants to pony up the seven figure buy-in. The event also allows for re-entries, which could increase the prize pool even further. For the first time ever this event will be restricted to only non-professional players.
“The Monte Carlo One Drop Extravaganza is fast approaching and with 35 recreational players already confirmed to play, and many re-entries predicted, the Big One is in real good shape,” says Guy Laliberté, Founder, One Drop. “I want to remind players that there are still seven other tournaments and cash games, including a one million euro cash game, to be played during the week at what promises to be the biggest charitable poker event ever held, with proceeds going to One Drop.”
As Laliberté mentioned, the driving purpose of this whole festival is to raise money for One Drop, the organization he founded with the goal of helping to provide safe water access to people around the world.
“This has become one of the the globe’s most significant charitable initiatives,” said Caesars Interactive Entertainment CEO, Mitch Garber. “With Monaco as the backdrop, the One Drop Extravaganza is well positioned to raise additional funds and global awareness of the water crisis.”
The One Drop Extravaganza recently released the tournament structures for all of the events, which can be found here. The official tournament schedule can be viewed below.
