Upswing Poker has teamed up with Card Player to bring you some exclusive poker strategy content. In this video Polk discusses four betting preflop in no-limit hold’em.
“I think that intuatively most players know that they need to make some four-bet bluffs when they are facing three-bets, but they are not exactly sure how to do that correctly,” said Polk early on in the video.
“The first step when you are trying to figure out your four-bet range is to determine which hands you want to get all-in with preflop for value. That will be really important to your total strategy, because otherwise you don’t know how often you are going to want to be four-betting.”
“In spots where you only want to get in aces and kings you can’t really have that many four-bet bluffs because you only have two value bets, but as you move into mid and late position you start to add in queens and jacks and ace-king, which makes it so you can four-bet bluff more. The more value bets that you have, the more that you are also able to mix in bluffs.”
