The 2017 L.A. Poker Classic has been the place to be for great live tournament poker action since it kicked off at the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles. The 60-event poker festival kicked off on January 13 and will continue through March 1st, with some of the most exciting events of the series scheduled for the coming weeks..
The highlight of this week is a $1,100 buy-in no-limit hold’em event with four starting days and a $1 million guarantee which begins with the first of four starting days on Feb. 15 at 1:00 PM local time.
The centerpiece of the whole festival kicks off on Saturday, Feb. 25. The $10,000 buy-in World Poker Tour no-limit hold’em main event will run over the course of six days, crowning a champion at the televised final table on Mar. 2. In 2016 515 players turned out, with German poker pro Dietrich Fast emerging victorious with the title and the top prize of $1,000,080.
This year the Commerce awarded two $10,000 seats into the WPT main event in special freerolls for the players. The first went to Joey Pham back on Feb. 3, while the second was awarded to WSOP bracelet winner Dan Heimiller on Feb. 12.
In addition to the freerolls there will also be a $30,000 added, Player of the Series freeroll that will award three additional seats as well as cash prizes. The top 100 points earners will compete, with more points being equal to more starting chips.
Players can also earn their way into the main event with the regular satellites being offered or stay up-to-date on the Player of the Series with the upcoming L.A. Poker Cast, which features Matt Savage, Justin Hammer and D.J. Villegas.
