The $25,000 buy-in World Poker Tour Championship at the Bellagio marked the end of season five of the WPT, but fans will be delighted to know that the next season is just around the corner. The Mirage Poker Showdown that begins on May 8 in Las Vegas kicks off season six.

There will be 10 events spread from May 8-23. Seven of the events will be no-limit hold'em, including the $10,000 buy-in championship tournament that begins on May 23. Action starts with a $540 no-limit event. The other three non-no-limit hold'em events include a $540 and $1,080 limit tournament as well as a $5,200 heads-up event.

Last year, the main event attracted 384 entrants and generated a prize pool of $3,724,800. Stanley Weiss won the event and took home a little over $1.3 million while other well-known players,+ including David Williams, Robert Mizrachi, and Charidimos "Harry" Demetriou, made the final table as well.
