Wheel of Fortune-themed slots on PokerStars?

On Monday, Isle of Man-based PokerStars and Las Vegas’ slot machine juggernaut International Gaming Technology announced a deal to bring IGT online gambling content to PokerStars’ fledgling real-money casino platform.

The world’s top peer-to-peer poker platform in terms of worldwide market share (more than 70 percent) went forward with house-banked casino games in late 2014, not long after Canadian firm Amaya bought it for $4.9 billion.

PokerStars will offer content from IGT’s server-based library that includes more than 100 games, including titles such as Cleopatra, Golden Goddess and Wheel of Fortune.

“PokerStars Casino can entertain its player base with the most robust and time-tested slot content library in the industry,” IGT said in a statement.

Amaya announced in late March that revenue from poker in 2016 was $846.1 million, a decrease of 4.6 percent compared to 2015. However, the company said that if you exclude the impact of year-over-year changes in foreign exchange rates, 2016 poker revenue would have been flat.

The online gaming giant had a company record $1.15 billion in revenue last year, up 7.8 percent compared to the $1.07 billion from 2015. What that means is that house-banked online casino games are generating more revenue for the company than ever before.

In 2015, poker accounted for 82.7 percent of total company revenue. It was 73.2 percent last year. Revenue from house-banked games grew 94 percent year-over-year in 2016 to $264.1 million.

It’s been a busy spring for IGT. The company announced last month that it’s selling its online social casino platform DoubleDown to South Korean company DoubleU Games. The price tag was $825 million. IGT bought DoubleDown five years ago for $500 million.

DoubleDown, which is available on Facebook, generated revenue of $280 million in 2016, down 11.7 percent from 2015. It also saw a 14.3 percent decline in average daily active users.
