The first starting day of the Card Player Poker Tour bestbet Jacksonville main event featured fast-paced action from a starting field of 155. After 14 levels of play on Friday, 28 runners remained.
The $1,100 re-entry no-limit hold’em tournament with a $200,000 guarantee, set to run over four days, will have its second starting day on Saturday, May 6 at noon local time. Single-table satellites at the $260 buy-in level will run Saturday prior to the close of registration.
Registration will close at the end of the dinner break (approximately 7:30 p.m.).
This is the fifth year in a row that the CPPT has traveled to Jacksonville. Poker pro David Jackson, who has nearly $1 million in lifetime tournament earnings, finished the day with the big stack in the room (326,000). Other notable players in attendance on Friday included Mario Oliveira, who finished 11th last year, Austin Buchanan, Brian Washington, who finished third in 2014, 2013 CPPT bestbet finalist Edward Mroczkowski, Brandon Miller, who made the final table last year, 2013 champ Harvey Vandeven and 2015 10th place finisher Jeffrey Flaschen.
Players began the day with 25,000 in chips and the blinds began at 50-100. When play concluded for the evening at level 14, the stakes were 1,200-2,400 with a 400-chip ante. Level 15, which the players will begin on day 2, is 1,500-3,000 with a 500-chip ante.
