Get Into WSOP Events For Cheap at Rio

The World Series of Poker is almost here and satellites are underway.

The Rio is providing numerous scheduled mega-satellites as well as introducing a newly improved system for the round-the-clock sit-and-go satellites in an effort to make it convenient for anyone to try to get in for cheap.

The mega-satellites allow players to compete in a multi-table tournament that awards seats into either the main event or the $50,000 buy-in H.O.R.S.E. event.

Players can choose from either a $550 or a $1,060 mega-satellite for the main event. The $550 satellites are scheduled for 9 p.m. every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday beginning June 4. There will also be one held at 4 p.m. on July 4. The $1,060 satellites will take place at 9 p.m. every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday beginning June 1 up until the main event.

The mega-satellites for the H.O.R.S.E. event feature a buy-in of $2,250 and will be played at 5 p.m. on the following days: June 7, June 12, June 13, June 16, June 18, and June 23.

Sit-and-go satellites are the other option. The Rio has made improvements in making them run more efficiently by implementing a system in which players use a kiosk system to swipe their Rewards Card (player's card for any Harrah's property) to sign up and register for a game. This should cut down on line waits and overall confusion. Winners of these tournaments will receive a tournament buy-in plus a small amount of cash.

The events at the WSOP have seven different levels of buy-ins: $1,000, $1,500, $2,000, $2,500, $3,000, $5,000, and the $10,000 main event. Satellites are available for each of these buy-ins and can be played in no-limit, limit, or pot-limit hold'em and in Omaha high or eight-or-better, limit or pot-limit.

$125; winner receives a $1,000 buy-in plus $120 cash
$175; winner receives a $1,500 buy-in plus $120 cash
$225; winner receives a $2,000 buy-in plus $120 cash
$275; winner receives a $2,500 buy-in plus $120 cash
$325; winner receives a $3,000 buy-in plus $120 cash
$525; winner receives a $5,000 buy-in plus $120 cash
$1,060; winner receives a $10,000 buy-in chips plus $150 cash

Single-table, Two Winners

$235; winners receive a $1,000 buy-in plus $100 cash
$335; winners receive a $1,500 buy-in plus $100 cash
$435; winners receive a $2,000 buy-in plus $100 cash
$535; winners receive a $2,500 buy-in plus $100 cash
$635; winners receive a $3,000 buy-in plus $100 cash

There are also satellites for eight-handed games, including seven-card stud, stud eight-or-better, razz, H.O.R.S.E., and deuce-to-seven draw.

Sit-and-gos for the $50,000 buy-in H.O.R.S.E. event include a $6,320 buy-in single table, a $3,170 two-table, or a $2,120 three-table satellite in which one winner gets a seat into the event plus $160 in cash. All tables will begin eight-handed in these satellites.
