Andreas Korn is the latest bracelet winner at the 2017 World Series of Poker. The 47-year-old poker pro from Buenos Aires, Argentina topped a field of 623 entries to win the 2017 WSOP $5,000 no-limit hold’em event, earning his first gold bracelet and the $618,285 top prize. Korn was only the second Argentinian player to ever win a bracelet, following Ivan Luca who won a WSOP event back in 2015.

“This was beautiful,” Korn told WSOP reporters after coming out on top. “I connected with every flop. I won every flip — the cards just kept coming my way. It was my way.”

In a summer filled with final tables populated by previous braelet winners, this event saw nine players without WSOP titles survive to the final table. The most accomplished player at the final table was Mike Sowers, who had more than $3 million in live tournament earnings prior to this event.

Pete ChenSowers survived to five-handed action, but ran into the bulldozer that was Korn at this final table. Korn called the American pro’s all-in with the QHeart SuitJDiamond Suit and outran his AHeart Suit9Heart Suit on a JSpade Suit4Club Suit2Club Suit6Club Suit8Heart Suit board. Shortly after that he sent Hungarian poker pro Marton Czuczor to the rail in fourth place ($185,794) and took a sizable lead into three-handed action.

Korn knocked out Thomas Boivin in third place ($264,306) to take nearly a 5-to-2 chip lead over Taiwan’s Pete Chen. Korn kept building up his lead only to have Chen mount a comeback. Eventually Korn was able to pull away. By the time the final hand arose Chen had only around 10 big blinds. Korn opened with an all-in shove from the button with the 9Spade Suit8Spade Suit and Chen called with the KClub Suit9Diamond Suit. The board ran out 9Heart Suit8Diamond Suit5Spade Suit6Spade Suit6Heart Suit to earn Korn the pot and the title. Chen was awarded $382,122 for his runner-up showing in this event.
