Alex Foxen has had quite an impressive run on the live tournament circuit in recent months. In December of 2017 he finished second in the WPT Five Diamond Classic main event for $1,134,202 and in February 2018 he won the $25,000 L.A. Poker Classic RockStar High Roller for $424,625. He added his third title in less than four months by taking down the 2018 Asia Pacific Poker Tour Macau $400,000 HKD ($51,002 USD) no-limit hold’em super high roller. Foxen outlasted a field of 68 total entries to win $7,560,000 HKD ($982,800 USD) and 612 Card Player Player of the Year points.

With 1,032 POY points and $1,407,425 in year-to-date earnings Foxen has climbed into 51st place in the overall Player of the Year rankings for 2018.

Foxen won a live satellite into this event and never looked back, ending both day 1 and day 2 as the chip leader. Heading into the nine-handed final table he held approximately 40 percent of the chips in play. Several big names joined him at the final table, including Isaac Haxton (9th – $97,500 USD), three Super High Roller Bowl champions in Christoph Vogelsang (8th – $127,644 USD), Brian Rast (7th – $164,710 USD) and Rainer Kempe (4th – $346,190 USD), recent partypoker LIVE MILLIONS high roller winner Patrik Antonius (6th – $208,390 USD) and 2017 Caribbean Poker Party main event champion Samuel Greenwood (3rd – $458,770 USD).

In the end it came down a battle for the title between Foxen and Shan Huang, who took a roughly a 10:7 lead into heads-up play. Foxen was able to overtake the lead eventually, and by the time the final hand arose he had Huang down to just 10 big blinds. Foxen moved all-in from the button with the ASpade Suit6Spade Suit and Huang called with the KSpade SuitQClub Suit. The board ran out 10Diamond Suit8Heart Suit5Heart SuitJDiamond Suit7Diamond Suit and Foxen’s ace-high was good enough to earn him the pot and the title. Huang took home $5,429,000 HKD ($705,770 USD) as the runner-up finisher.
