Maryland gaming regulators said this week that gaming revenue from last month established a new single-month record for the state. The $150.1 million was a 6.3 percent increase from the March 2017 total of $141.1 million, which was the previous record month.
Maryland has six privately-owned casinos. The most recent one to open was MGM National Harbor in late 2016. It is the most successful casino in the state in terms of gambling winnings. Live! Casino, formerly Maryland Live!, is in the no. 2 spot. Those casinos won $60.4 million and $47 million last month, respectively.
“We are incredibly proud of the performance of Maryland’s casino industry,” said Maryland Lottery and Gaming Director Gordon Medenica.
“The state’s casinos employ more than 7,000 people who work hard every day to make this success possible. We also thank the thousands of players and customers who have found Maryland’s casinos to be such an enjoyable and exciting entertainment option.”
Four of the state’s six casinos have poker rooms, and they generated a combined $4 million in poker rake last month, according to the state figures.
