PokerStars Sunday Million

The regular $200 buy-in PokerStars Sunday Million was back last night after last week's quarterly $1,000 buy-in version of the event. Last night's tournament had 6,813 entrants to generate a prize pool of $1,362,600. The players were gunning for a top prize of more than $192,000.

Last weekend's event had a final table stacked with notable players. Last night, despite having almost five times as many entrants, the final table still had at least one notable face with Joe "Dyzalot" Morneau. Dyzalot had $4.3 million in chips when the final table began, which put him pretty far back in eighth place, ahead of only Pokermäklarn, who had just $3.3 million when the big blind was at $400,000. Dsavo was the chip leader with $18.8 million compared to tonijeromi in second place with $12.5 million.

Pokermäklarn went out after just six hands of play at the final table. He open-pushed all in preflop for $2.9 million in mid-position and Dyzalot reraised all in over the top for $5 million, folding the remaining players. Dyzalot showed A Q and was slightly behind Pokermäklarn's pocket jacks for a coin-flip situation. The flop spiked an ace for Dyzalot to take the lead and eliminate Pokermäklarn in ninth place ($8,039).

The next elimination hand was just two hands later. Dsavo raised to $1.1 million preflop and HR_Dub pushed all in for $3.8 million. Dsavo called and turned over pocket fives and had a slight edge versus HR_Dub's A 6. The flop came Q 6 5, giving HR_Dub a pair of sixes, but completing a set for Dsavo to take a dominating lead. The turn and river were blanks and Dsavo raked in the pot. HR_Dub earned $12,263 for eighth place.

The action continued to be fast-paced when the next big hand occurred just three minutes later. Tonijeromi open-raised to $1 million preflop and Dsavo reraised all in over the top for $23.5 million as the chip leader. Tonijeromi was still in second place at the time and called all in, after some thought, for $11.6 million total. Tonijeromi flipped up A K and was in a classic coin-flip situation versus Dsavo's pocket queens. The flop brought tonijeromi a much-needed ace and the two players' stacks basically switched hands, leaving tonijeromi in the chip lead.

In the next elimination hand, -BBJ- was getting severely shortstacked with just $2.5 million when the big blind was at $500,000. He open-pushed all in from under the gun and Dyzalot called in the big blind and showed a fortuitous pocket kings. -BBJ- held A J and needed help. The board ran out J 5 4 4 Q, giving -BBJ- a pair of jacks but failing to improve him enough to stay alive. -BBJ- left the table in seventh place with $21,120.

The next player was sent packing seven minutes later. Tonijeromi raised to $1.3 million preflop and Dyzalot called in the big blind. The flop came J 9 6 and Dyzalot checked. Tonijeromi bet $2.5 million and Dyzalot check-raised all in for $12.9 million. Tonijeromi called and showed pocket aces while Dyzalot held Q 10 for an open-end straight draw. The turn was the 9 and the river the 7 and Dyzalot's missed draw sent him to the rail in sixth place ($29,977).

AlusivPnkBny was the next player to go when he got all in preflop in the very next hand for $3.9 million and was called by tonijeromi in the small blind. Tonijeromi held Q J and was dominating AlusivPnkBny's Q 10. The flop was great news for AlusivPnkBny when it came qoc 4 2, giving him top pair for the lead to reverse dominate tonijeromi and putting him in prime position to double up. The turn, however, was the J and tonijeromi retook the lead. The river was a blank and AlusivPnkBny was knocked out in fifth place, earning $40,878.

Fatman84's stack then thinned out and he raised all in against a preflop raise from tonijeromi. Tonijeromi called and showed A Q and was dominating Fatman84's A 9. The board ran out Q J 7 J J and tonijeromi needlessly made a full house to eliminate Fatman84 in fourth place ($54,504).

It was how down to just three players and tonijeromi had a commanding chip lead with $48.4 million versus NSD1 in second with $12.1 million and Dsavo in third with $7.6 million. Not word one had been spoken of a possible chop, an unusual circumstance for a Sunday Million tournament, and none of the final three players seemed interested in dealmaking, either.

The next elimination hand was just two hands into threehanded play. Tonijeromi raised to $1.8 million preflop, with the big blind at $600,000, and Dsavo reraised all in for $6.9 million. Tonijeromi called and Dsavo revealed pocket twos. Dsavo's deuces were dominated by tonijeromi's pocket sevens as the board ran out J 8 3 5 5. Dsavo collected $68,130 for his third-place finish.

Tonijeromi now had $56.8 million in chips compared to NSD1's $11.3 million for a 5-1 chip advantage. The final hand was less than five minutes later. NSD1 raised to $1.2 million and tonijeromi reraised to $13.8 million (enough to put NSD1 all in). NSD1 called all in and showed K Q and was dominating tonijeromi's K J. That dominating lead was quickly squelched when the flop came 7 6 5, giving tonijeromi the flush and leaving NSD1 drawing nearly dead (running cards for a straight flush on the board would result in a split pot and allow him to survive). The turn was the J, however, and NSD1 was out in second place, for $96,745. Tonijeromi dominated the final-table action after his fortuitous double-up early on with A-K versus Dsavo's pocket queens. Tonijeromi eliminated his final five opponents in a row to snag the $192,127 first-place prize.

The final results were:

1) tonijeromi - $192,126.60
2) NSD1 - $96,744.60
3) Dsavo - $68,130
4) Fatman84 - $54,504
5) AlusivPnkBny - $40,878
6) Joe "Dyzalot" Morneau - $29,977.20
7) -BBJ- - $21,120.30
8) HR_Dub - $12,263.40
9) Pokermäklarn - $8,039.34

Full Tilt $500,000 Guarantee

The second installment of the Full Tilt $500,000-guaranteed tournament lured 3,189 entrants, 21 more than last weekend. The total prize pool came to $637,800 with a first-place prize of $114,198.

When it got down to the final nine players, coryexcpoint held the chip lead with $1.79 million. Andinista was extremely close behind with $1.77 million and both players were relatively comfortable with the big blind at just $40,000. Those two carried their stacks into three-way play with relative ease along with Crazy Eye Killa. Andinista was now the chip leader with $5.6 million, Crazy Eye Killa had $2.1 million in second place, and coryexcpoint had fallen into third place with $1.8 million.

After 10 minutes of threehanded play, andinista had siphoned $1 million off of coryexcpoint's stack and now sat with $6.6 million. Coryexcpoint, correspondingly, was down to just $831,000 when the big blind was at $80,000. Crazy Eye Killa raised to $200,000 preflop from on the button and coryexcpoint called in the big blind. The flop came Q 3 3 and coryexcpoint pushed all in for $621,000. Crazy Eye Killa thought for a while before finally calling and showing A 4 for just ace high, along with the board pair. It turned out to be an excellent call as coryexcpoint revealed just K 10 and needed help. The turn and river bricked out and coryexcpoint was sent off in third place, for $45,284.

Crazy Eye Killa now had a stack of $3 million in time for heads-up play versus andinista's $6.5 million. The heads-up match lasted more than 25 minutes, over which time Crazy Eye Killa failed to make much headway against andinista. In the final hand, andinista called in the small blind, with the big blind at $120,000, and Crazy Eye Killa raised to $300,000. Andinista called and the flop came A J 2. Crazy Eye Killa bet $350,000 and andinista thought for a while before min-raising to $700,000. Crazy Eye Killa called and the turn was the 8. Crazy Eye Killa checked and andinista checked behind him. The river brought the 9 and Crazy Eye Killa bet $1.25 million. Andinista raised all in and Crazy Eye Killa called all in. Andinista turned over Q J for a flush and Crazy Eye Killa mucked his hand before leaving the table in second place ($69,520). Andinista raked in the final pot to collect the $114,198 first prize.

The final results were:

1) andinista - $114,198.07
2) Crazy Eye Killa - $69,520.20
3) coryexcpoint - $45,283.80
4) Luv U Lng Time - $35,397.90
5) Naero - $26,468.70
6) fghtffyrdmns - $19,580.46
7) linkocracy - $14,669.40
8) UPA - $11,480.40
9) jeppg1111 - $8,546.52

UltimateBet $200,000 Guarantee

The UltimateBet $200,000-guaranteed tournament had 901 entrants last night, which was down from last week's 978 entrants. Since the tournament requires 1,000 entrants to generate the $200,000 prize pool on the merits of entries alone, the 99-entrant shortfall meant that UltimateBet had to foot a $19,800 bill to match the tournament's guarantee.

Fairwood had a slight chip lead when the final table began with $328,000 in chips compared to wiredpair99's $323,000 in second place when the big blind was at $10,000. Notable Internet player Ryan "toetagU" Fair was also at the table. He sat with $314,000, which put him in third place.

Fairwood lost his chip lead fairly quickly and was then eliminated in an unexpectedly early ninth place when he got all in on a flop of A 10 5 while holding A 2 against wiredpair99's A K. The turn and river were the K and J and Fairwood was sent away with $3,400 for his finish.

ToetagU also became an early victim when he pushed all in on an ace-high flop with A-Q and was called by sirstackems with A-K. The hand left him with just $900, which got anted off blind in the very next hand. His J-5 failed to improve against his opponent's A-9 and he was out in seventh, for $6,500.

When it got down to threehanded play, wiredpair99 was the chip leader with $1.1 million in chips. Sirstackems was in second place with $737,000 and Dallas3333 was in third place with $402,000. It was more than 10 minutes before the next elimination hand.

Wiredpair99 ($1.4 million) raised to $43,000 preflop, with the big blind at $20,000, and Dallas3333 ($218,000) called. The flop came 9 7 5 and wiredpair99 bet $160,000. Dallas3333 raised all in for $175,000 total and wiredpair99 called and showed 3 2 for a flush draw. Dallas3333 held 10 8 for an open-end straight draw and the lead with 10 high. Dallas3333 had a 56 percent chance to win the hand and double up. The turn was the 4, giving wirepair99 additional outs for an open-end straight draw. The river was the 5, completing wiredpair99's flush to knock Dallas3333 out in third place ($18,000).

Wiredpair99 now had $1.6 million versus sirstackems' $663,000. The $10,000-$20,000 blinds were small compared to the stacks, and, correspondingly, the heads-up match lasted over 20 minutes. Sirstackems slowly pulled into the chip lead during the match by steadily winning pots, but he was then quickly shot back down and eventually had just $338,000 left. In the final hand, sirstackems limped for $30,000 preflop and wiredpair99 raised to $75,000. Sirstackems called and the flop came A 10 3. Both players checked and the turn brought the 9. Wiredpair99 bet $49,000 and sirstackems called to see the river of A. Wiredpair99 instantly pushed all in and sirstackems thought for a short while before calling all in and showing 10 9 for a counterfeited turned two pair. Wiredpair99 held A K for trip aces and took down the pot to eliminate sirstackems in second place, for $26,500. Wiredpair99 earned $45,000 for first place in the event.

The final results were:

1) wiredpair99 - $45,000
2) sirstackems - $26,500
3) Dallas3333 - $18,000
4) KRISTEN - $13,100
5) dannysek - $10,500
6) Kingdan23 - $8,500
7) Ryan "toetagU" Fair - $6,500
8) technics_ - $4,500
9) Fairwood - $3,400
10) MindSpank - $2,000

Bodog $100,000 Guarantee

The Bodog $100,000-guaranteed tournament had 846 entrants last night, up from last weekend's 810. Despite being up in entries, the tournament still required a $15,400 overlay to match the guarantee.

Ohanna was the chip leader when the final table began with $356,000 in chips. Colbs was close behind in second place with $324,000 when the big blind was $16,000. Because the blinds were so large relative to even the biggest stacks, the chip lead changed hands quite a few times.

Tortillacontrol and Mortadelo held the top stacks for a while before both of them made early exits. Tortillacontrol's stack shrunk when he lost some hands and he was then eliminated when he ran into pocket kings when he held A-Q suited. He finished in sixth place ($4,400). Mortadelo eventually went out in fourth place when his preflop all in with K-Q was called by betis83 with A-6. Both players paired their high cards, but Mortadelo's kings weren't enough to keep him in the tournament. He earned $6,500.

It was then down to the final three, and both ohanna and Colbs were still alive with $335,000 and $227,000 in chips, respectively. Betis83, however, had a tremendous chip lead with $1.6 million and ohanna and Colbs were in trouble with the big blind at $40,000. The remainder of the final table lasted just six minutes.

In the first big hand of three-way play, ohanna got all in with A-6 and was called by betis83 with pocket nines. The flop brought two sixes to give ohanna trips, which were good enough to double him up. Next, betis83 pushed all in in the small blind and Colbs called all in for his last $151,000 in the big blind and showed K 2. Colbs was dominated by betis83's K Q as the board ran out Q 10 7 J 5, giving betis83 an unnecessary pair of queens to send Colbs to the rail in third place ($9,000).

Betis83 now had $1.6 million again versus ohanna's $498,000 as the heads-up match began. A big pot developed a short time into heads-up play. Betis83 raised to $100,000 preflop from the small blind and ohanna called. The flop came 6 5 3 and ohanna checked. Betis83 bet $100,000 and ohanna thought for some time before calling. The turn brought the A and ohanna again checked. Betis83 pushed all in and ohanna quickly called all in for his last $294,000 and showed 7 4 for a flopped straight and a turned flush draw. Betis83 held 7 5 and could only tie for the pot at best if the river brought a 4 (to give both players a seven-high straight). The river, however, was the 8 and ohanna doubled up to $995,000. Betis83 had $1.1 million and the match suddenly got a lot closer.

The final hand was just minutes later. Ohanna min-raised to $120,000 preflop and betis83 called in the big blind. The flop came 5 4 2 and betis83 checked. Ohanna bet $104,000 and betis83 called. The turn was the K and betis83 again checked. Ohanna also checked and the river was the 6. Betis83 led out in this round of betting for $222,000 and ohanna reraised all in for $757,000. Betis83 quickly called and showed A 3 for a flopped wheel turned six-high straight and ohanna held just 8 6 for a pair of sixes. Ohanna was out in second place, earning $14,000, and betis83 pocketed $25,000 for his first-place finish in the tournament.

The final results were:

1) betis83 - $25,000
2) ohanna - $14,000
3) Colbs - $9,000
4) Mortadelo - $6,500
5) thm350 - $5,400
6) tortillacontrol - $4,400
7) SoxNation83 - $3,400
8) NOSOUP4YOU - $2,400
9) blundy420 - $1,550
