A total of 317 entries were made in the 2019 Card Player Poker Tour World Cup of Cards $1,100 CAD buy-in main event, blowing away the $250,000 CAD guarantee to create a final prize pool of $307,490 CAD. The top 40 finishers will cash for at least $1,630 CAD, although everyone will have their eyes on the title and the top prize of $66,800 CAD.
A total of 178 entries turned out to the Playground Poker Club in Montreal for day 1B of this event, but after 16 levels of action, just 38 moved on to day 2. With the 26 survivors from day 1A, now only 64 players remain with a shot at becoming the next CPPT main event champion. Day 2 will begin with blinds will be at 2,500-5,000 with a big-blind ante of 5,000. Play resumes at noon on Wednesday, February 6 to play down to a winner.
The chip leader heading into day 2 will be day 1A’s James Allan Werry with 375,000. Other big stacks include Amirpasha Emami (355,000), Luigi Fantigrossi (309,500) and Jaered Besse (296,000).
Canadian poker pro Samuel Chartier bagged up 155,000. The 2009 World Series of Poker Circuit Caesars Atlantic City main event winner has more than $2.9 million in career live earnings. Danny Freitas, ended day 1A with 148,000. Freitas topped a massive field of 2,401 entries to win the World Series of Poker International Circuit $1,100 CAD main event right here at Playground Poker Club back in 2018 for $227,096 USD.
WSOP bracelet winner and WPT Fallsview Poker Clasic champion Mike Leah played on day 1B, but failed to survive to day 2.
The remaining 64 players will return at noon on Sunday, Aug. 27.
