WSOP Rule Clarification

Rebuy Tournament Grace Period

Print-icon

Often in rebuy events players do not bring enough cash or casino chips to make all the rebuys they end up wanting to make. We have all heard a busted player say, "Let me just get some money from my buddy over in that cash game." Or, "I need to go to the ATM." But in the past the rule was: If you bust and miss one hand, you are out of the tournament.

But no more!

According to the 2007 World Series of Poker ruling - please notice that we are not saying WSOP rule because we have not seen this one in writing yet - but according to the current interpretation of the "When you're out, you're out (or not) rebuy rule," here it is: If you are busted in a rebuy tournament during the rebuy period, you may announce your intention to rebuy. The chips will be placed in your seat position and you may go for the cash (or casino chips) as long you are back to complete the rebuy transaction before one complete circuit of the table has occurred. If you are not back by then, the stack will be picked up and your will be out of the tournament.
