High-stakes online poker legend Richard ‘nutsinho’ Lyndaker passed away earlier this week in his San Diego apartment.

According to a poster on a poker forum, who claimed to be a close friend of the family, Lyndaker accidentally overdosed on prescribed pain medication that he was using to deal with pain from a recent soccer injury he sustained.

The poster said that the overdose was confirmed by the coroner’s toxicology report and that he died sometime between Monday, July 29 and Tuesday, July 30. He was 33 years old.

Lyndaker was a prominent figure in the online poker world, especially before Black Friday. The New York native steadily moved up the cash game ranks and was playing some of the biggest games online by 2009.

According to HighstakesDB, Lyndaker crossed $1 million in online cash game profits by August 2009. In 2010, he won more money playing cash games than anybody else on the internet and was playing nosebleed stakes at the start of 2011, the year where he reached the $2 million in online cash game earnings.

Lyndaker made training videos for the now-defunct Leggo Poker. Cash games were his specialty, but he cashed for $1.87 million in live tournaments. The poker world reacted with sadness when they saw the news.
