2019 World Poker Tour Legends of Poker Main Event Kicks off Aug. 31

The $2 Million Guaranteed Tournament Is The Centerpiece Of A 36-Event Series At The Bicycle Hotel & Casino

The Legends of Poker main event is back on the World Poker Tour main tour in 2019. The $5,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em event is set to run from Aug. 31 – Sept. 4, and will feature a sizable $2,000,000 guarantee. The Legends of Poker main event was first featured on the WPT in the tour’s inaugural season back in 2002. The massive event will once again take place at the stored Bicycle Hotel and Casino in beautiful Bell Gardens, California, and is sure to be a highlight of the WPT schedule as the tour continues its 18th season.

Art Papazyan won the most recent WPT Legends of PokerThis event has crowned plenty of distinguished WPT champions over the years, including Mel Judah (2003), Doyle Brunson (2004), Dan Harrington (2007), John Phan (2008), Prahlad Friedman (2009), Andy Frankenberger (2010), and most recently Art Papazyan (2017). Papazyan earned $668,692 as the champion that year after topping a healthy field of 763 total entries. He went on to secure the WPT Player of the Year award in 2018.

The $2,000,0000 guaranteed WPT Legends of Poker $5,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em main event features two starting days, each kicking off at noon local time on Saturday, Aug. 31 and Sunday, Sept. 1. Players are allowed a single re-entry per day. Registration is available up until the start of day 2, with no late registration after day 2 gets underway.

Players will start with 40,000 in chips, with initial blinds of 100-100 for level 1. Blinds are set to be at 1,000-,1500 with a big-blind ante of 1,500 at the start of day 2. Days 1 and 2 will feature hour-long blind levels, with 90-minute levels for day 3.

There are plenty of ways for players to qualify for the 2019 WPT Legends of Poker main event at a discount. The Bike has more than 100 satellites planned, including “No Juice” single table satellites running every day and a wide variety of mega-satellite to choose from.
