Police responding to a call about a shooting were instead surprised to find a house full of gamblers.
Texas authorities were told to expect four, possibly five victims after a 911 report about an incident at a South Side home in San Antonio. What they found instead was an illegal gambling operation.
The home was full of roughly 30 slot machines, lining the walls of every room but the bathrooms. Police also ran into 20 patrons of the establishment, but no gunshot victims.
Detectives now believe that the call was actually made by a disgruntled gambler looking for revenge.
Police seized about $2,600 and removed the motherboards from the machines for evidence before destroying them. No arrests have been made, but three individuals have been identified as suspects in charge of the operation.
