Ben Diebold has won the 2020 bestbet Jacksonville Fall Frenzy II $1,500 buy-in no-limit hold’em main event, topping a field of 182 total entries to capture the title and the top prize of $63,182.
The Charleston, South Carolina resident also earned 336 Card Player Player of the Year points as the champion. This was his third POY-qualified final-table finish of 2020. As a result, he now sits in 323rd place in the overall POY race standings, which are sponsored by Global Poker.
This was Diebold’s second major victory at bestbet Jacksonville, having won the Card Player Poker Tour main event at the property back in 2018. In that tournament, Diebold overcame a field of 373 entries to win $75,655.
This time around the strong turnout built a prize pool of $243,880, which was paid out among the top 23 finishers. Among those to cash were Gloria Jackson (23rd – $2,314), Johnny Pham (17th – $3,780), and 2013 CPPT bestbet Jacksonville third-place finisher Edward Mroczkowski.
In the end it came down to a battle between Diebold and Dhimitri Lleshi, who had won the $240 buy-in ‘Fall Frenzy Warmup’ event that kicked off this series just two days earlier. He overcame a field of 254 entries to earn $11,674 n that event.
Diebold ultimately came out on top, winning the decisive pot with KK against the JJ to take a commanding lead. Lleshi was knocked out moments later, earning $42,374 as the runner-up.
The third and final event of the weekend was a $360 buy-in no-limit hold’em ‘Monster Stack’. The 192-entry turnout built a $57,600 prize pool, with Raminder Singh taking home $10,457 as the eventual champion. Singh had finished 11th in the $1,500 buy-in event for $5,365.
