FanDuel Sportsbook is now an online gambling partner of the New York Yankees.
Under the deal announced by both groups, FanDuel will be permitted use of New York Yankees’ logos and other marks on its sports betting product. FanDuel also grabs signage in right-field and rotational signage behind home plate during broadcasts.
Terms of the partnership were not disclosed.
“There is no more globally recognized sports brand than the New York Yankees, and as a New York-based company we’re delighted to remain partners with our hometown team,” said Mike Raffensperger, CMO of FanDuel Group. “One of our company values is to be absurdly fan-focused and there is no fanbase more passionate about their team than Yankees fans which makes this a natural fit.”
The move follows Las Vegas-based Caesars Entertainment and the New York Mets announcing in early April a multi-year partnership to make the casino operator an official gambling partner of the team. Terms of the non-exclusive deal were not disclosed.
Caesars said it plans to open a new sportsbook lounge at Citi Field. The sportsbook location will open during the upcoming MLB season and feature 13,000 square feet of space.
New York has proven to be the nation’s largest sports betting market, with nearly $2 billion in wagers over 30 days in January and February of this year. No state in the country with sports betting has seen greater handle in its first month.
The total gross gaming revenue of over $138 million was subjected to a 51% tax rate for the state.
