Online Gamblers Drop $113 Million To Pennsylvania iCasinos In April

Total Gambling Win Grows 14% To $461.6 Million

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported that the combined total revenue generated from all forms of gambling during April was $461,624,617, a year-over-year increase of 14%.

Sources of gaming revenue regulated by the PGCB include in-person slot machines and table games, internet casino gambling, and sports wagering. Revenue from fantasy contests and video gaming terminals (VGTs) are also included, though they represent a very small percentage.

Retail Slot Machine: April’s gross revenue from slot machines was $217,892,715, an 8.20% increase in revenue when compared to the $201,386,057 generated in April 2021. The number of slot machines in operation in April 2022 was 26,038 compared to 19,994 at the casinos in April 2021.

Retail Table Games: Table games revenue for April 2022 was $91,493,293, an increase of 17.54% from April 2021 when revenue was $77,839,427.

Internet Casino: Casino games offered online generated gross revenue of $113,109,393 during April 2022 compared to $92,676,448 in April 2021, an increase of 22%.

Sports Betting: April 2022 total sports wagering handle was $572,817,741 or 19.48% above the April 2021 total of $479,411,021. At the same time, the taxable revenue figure for April 2022 was $33,667,057 compared to $26,296,483 in April 2021, an increase of 28.03%.

Video Gaming Terminals: Total adjusted revenue for April 2022 for video gaming terminals (VGTs) was $3,750,735, or 2.60% lower than April 2021 when revenue was $3,851,012. By the close of April 2022, four VGT Terminal Operators were operating the maximum permitted five machines at 64 truck stop establishments.

Fantasy Contests: Fantasy sports contests revenue was $1,711,425 in April 2022, a decrease of 16.77% over April 2021, when revenue was $2,056,266.
