"The land down under" is the location for one of the premiere poker events outside of the United States. The 2008 Aussie Millions main event is scheduled to begin Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, and take place at the Crown Casino Resort in Australia. It is only a few months away, and Full Tilt is giving away packages worth $18,000 to give players the poker trip of a lifetime.
The package includes the $10,500 buy-in, a 10-night stay at the Crown Casino Resort, $3,000 in spending money, airfare for two from Los Angeles to Melbourne, and lots of complementary ways to enjoy the scenery with a guest and Team Full Tilt members. Winners will enjoy a private golf outing at the Capital Golf Club as well as a tour through one of Australia's premium wineries, Rochford Wines. In addition, all winners and their guests will go on a dinner cruise and attend an opening and closing reception with all of the pros.
The best part about this package is that players can win it for free. One of the five ways to win is through a bi-weekly freeroll. Players must accumulate 5,000 Full Tilt Points during a two-week qualifying period to be entered into the freeroll that takes place every other Sunday at 4:30 p.m. ET. The top-two finishers win an $18,000 Aussie Millions package.
Every Sunday at 4:30 p.m. ET, there is a $535 buy-in satellite, and on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET, there is a $300 buy-in satellite. For those who wish to play in a satellite with a smaller field, the $1,000 buy-in satellite, which runs every Thursday at 9 p.m. ET, is the path for them. The last way to win a package is the 25-seat-guaranteed satellite scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. ET. Players have until Dec. 15 to win a package.
Last year at the 2007 Aussie Millions, Gus Hansen defeated a field of 747 players to take home the first-place prize of $1.2 million.
