Another day, another big winner at the 2022 Triton Mediterranean Poker Party super high roller series.

The latest champion crowned at the Merit Crystal Cove Hotel in North Cyprus is Matthias Eibinger. The Austrian defeated a field of 32 total entries in a fast-paced $50,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em event, earning $545,000 for the win.

This was the second time this year that Eibinger has emerged victorious in a tournament with this buy-in at this venue. Back in April he took down a very similar event, earning $676,000 that time after besting a 41-entry field.

Eibinger earned 408 Card Player Player of the Year points for his most recent run to the winner’s circle. With those two titles and two additional POY-qualified final-table finishes, Eibinger now has more than $1.7 million in year-to-date POY earnings. His 1,511 total points are enough to move him inside to top 200 in the 2022 POY race standings sponsored by Global Poker. He also scored 327 PokerGO Tour points as the victor this week, enough to see him climb to 74th place on that leaderboard.

Danny Tang finished sixth, being the first player to finish inside the money in this turbo tournament. The bracelet winner from Hong Kong earned $110,000 and 136 POY points for his 10th POY-qualified score of the year.

Tang was far from the only POY contender to make moves near the top of the leaderboard thanks to this event, though. Two-time bracelet winner Aleksejs Ponakovs also climbed to 41st place thanks to his fifth-place showing ($140,000). Mikita Badziakouski outlasted fourth-place finisher Phil Nagy ($185,000) to place third. The Belarusian tournament superstar earned $245,000 for his ninth final-table appearance of the year. Badziakouski has won three titles so far in 2022, accumulating more than $6.6 million in POY earnings along the way. As a result, he now occupies the 12th-place spot in the overall standings.

With that, Eibinger squared off against World Poker Tour champion Jonathan Jaffe for the title. Eibinger was able to overcome a chip deficit to start heads-up play, taking the lead before getting the last of the chips in with his pocket kings leading the K-10 suited of his opponent. The pocket pair held up and Jaffe was sent to the rail with $375,000 for his efforts.

Here is a look at the payouts and rankings points awarded in this event:
