The poker world was shocked to learn that high-stakes Malaysian poker player Ivan Leow had suddenly passed away from an apparent heart attack. Leow, who was popular on the high-stakes circuit, was just 39 years old and had been playing in the Triton Poker Cyprus series all week.
Leow helped the Triton high roller series make its debut back in 2015 and is credited as a partner and founding member along with Paul Phua and Richard Yong.
After learning of Leow’s passing, play was postponed for the planned $50,000 Short Deck final table. The final two events on the schedule, the $25,000 Short Deck and the $100,000 Main Event, were canceled.
We have decided to cut short the Triton Series event in Northern Cyprus to mourn his passing together.

“Ivan was a hugely popular member of the Triton family. He was warm, generous, and enormous fun both at the tables and off – a loyal friend to us all. He was also a fantastic poker player, with a lifelong passion for the game,” Phua and Yong said in a statement through Triton Poker.
“Ivan was a very special person, who lived life to the full, was always smiling, and loved the game of poker. He will be sincerely missed by his family, friends, and everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him," the statement continued.
With more than $13 million in live tournament winnings, Leow is third on Malaysia’s all-time money list, behind only the aforementioned Phua and Yong.
He was particular successful in 2018, winning the Triton Jeju Short Deck event for $1.1 million, the partypoker MILLIONS Russia main event for $1.1 million, and the €100,000 buy-in WSOP Europe high roller for $1.4 million.
Just over a year ago, he earned a career-high payday of $2.46 million after finishing runner-up to Wiktor Malinowski in the Super High Roller Bowl Europe event. His last cash came in event no. 1 of the Cyprus series, min-cashing for $59,000 in the $25,000 high roller.

Everything that comes together will separate,
Everything that exists will melt,
Nothing is permanent.

I think last I saw Ivan Leow, on stream, he had stepped away, and they were passing his big shades around the table for everybody to wear, which made for nice light-heated fun. I think Ebony Kenney was on that table.
He came back, was smiling. Obviously a fun guy. Terrible.— ' (@K12EU) September 18, 2022
