Rounders Card Club in San Antonio, Texas kicked off the 2022 South Texas Poker Championship this week. The 10-event series features more than $1.5 million in guaranteed prize money to be awarded from Nov. 7-21, with each and every tournament featuring a guarantee.

The membership-only social club has something for everybody during the series, with buy-in ranging from as low as $25 all the way up to $1,400 for the marquee $1,000,000 guaranteed South Texas Main Event. That tournament will kick off on Nov. 16 with the first of eight starting flights.

Main event players will start with 50,000 in chips, with blind levels starting at 40 minutes and increasing to 50 minutes in length later in the event. After a single 5:00 p.m. flight on Nov. 16, there will be two flights on Nov. 17 and 18, with each day featuring both noon and 5:00 p.m. flights. Nov. 19 will see the same, with the addition of a final 20-minute level turbo flight that gets underway at 10:00 p.m.

Day 2 will begin at noon on Nov. 20, with play set to continue until the final table is set. Those that make the final day will be featured on the club’s live-streaming coverage.

Edward StanishThe first event of the series was a $40,000 guaranteed $240 buy-in no-limit hold’em ‘Monster Stack’ event. The tournament attracted a field of 254 entries to grow the prize pool to $74,000.

In the end, Edward Stanish emerged victorious with the title, the trophy, and the top prize of $14,750. The top 38 finishers made the money, with those finishing 15th or higher earning at least a four-figure payday. Stanish and runner-up Sandeep Vasudevan both cashed for five figures, with Vasudevan earning $10,300 for his second-place finish.

Next up on the agenda was a $300 buy-in four-game big bet mixed event. The $10,000 guaranteed tournament attracted 51 entries to build a prize pool of $13,260.

That prize money was ultimately split up among the top seven finishers, with the lion’s share going to eventual champion John George.

John GeorgeGeorge took home $4,800 as the winner. Incredibly, Sandeep Vasudevan finished in second in this event just a couple of days after making a runner-up showing in the kickoff tournament. He secured $2,900 this time around, bringing his total haul for the series to $13,200 after just two events.

The next big event on the schedule sports the second-largest guaranteed prize pool of the series: $300,000. The $400 buy-in ‘Big Texas’ no-limit hold’em event will run from Nov. 10-14, with eight starting flights and a live-streamed final table.
