Pennsylvania Sets New Gambling Revenue RecordMore Than $5.2B Won From All Forms Of Gambling |

It was another record year for gambling in the Keystone State.
According to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, revenue from legal forms of gambling was nearly a half billion dollars higher in 2022 than the previous year.
In the calendar year 2022, the combined revenue of slot machines, table games, sports wagering, online casino, video gaming terminals (VGTs) and fantasy contests totaled $5,211,303,191.
That was up compared to $4,734,552,201 in 2021.
The figure also resulted in a record combined tax revenue from gaming in 2022 of $2,123,015,118 compared to $1,931,219,603 in 2021. Tax revenue figures reflect amounts generated before any PA Department of Revenue adjustments.
Gross revenue from slot machines at the retails casinos was $2,390,757,300, a 4.51% increase in revenue compared to the $2,287,529,465 generated in 2021.
There are 15 brick-and-mortar casinos in the state.
Revenue from table games at the casinos was $990,568,468, an 7.10% increase in revenue compared to the $924,902,965 generated in 2021.
Winnings from sports wagering were $401,208,108, an 17.96% increase in revenue compared to the $340,113,160 generated in 2021. Sports wagering handle, the amount wagered through retail and online, was $7.25 billion, an 10.67% increase over 2021’s handle of $6.55 billion.
Pennsylvania was one of the first states to kick off sports betting after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the federal prohibition in 2018.
Fantasy contests revenue was $22,297,399, a -23.90% decrease in revenue compared to the $29,298,635 generated in 2021.
Online casino gambling, which includes digital slots, table games and poker, was $1,364,392,468, a 22.60% increase in revenue compared to the $1,112,855,937 generated in 2021. At the end of 2021, there were 10 iGaming certificate holders in Pennsylvania.
Revenue for VGTs at truck stops was $42,079,447, a 5.59% increase in revenue when compared to the $39,852,039 generated in 2021. At the end of the year, there were 66 VGT facilities in Pennsylvania.
