Chance Kornuth has racked up quite a few notable scores over the last few years, including a World Poker Tour title, his third career World Series of Poker bracelet, a deep run in the WSOP main event, and a consistent string of high roller final tables.
But the Colorado native has put together the best stretch of his career during the month of June, picking up his fifth six-figure or better score.
Kornuth’s run began in the $25,000 six-max high roller event at the WSOP, where he finished second to Alexandre Vuilleumier for $751,463. A couple of weeks later, he took fourth in the $100,000 event for another $833,854.
Just a few days after that, the 37-year-old took fifth in the $250,000 high roller for a career-best $1,202,318. Then he went online for the $3,200 event, and finished fourth for another $108,443.
This weekend, Kornuth finally found the winner’s circle in the Wynn Classic $2,200 Mystery Bounty event, beating out a field of 3,006 players to earn the title after a heads-up deal.
Kornuth banked a total of $537,322 in the event, bringing his June haul to just over $3.4 million. He now has more than $16 million in recorded tournament earnings. He also earned 1,200 Card Player Player of the Year for the win. With 3,130 total points thanks to his five POY-qualified final-table showings this year, Kornuth now sits in 25th place in the 2023 POY race standings presented by Global Poker.
The event featured a popular tournament format that awards bounties to those players who score knockouts once the field is in the money. However, unlike traditional knockout events where the bounty is set, mystery bounties are randomized and can include huge payouts.
Mystery bounties in this event ranged from $500 to $250,000, and made up about one-third of the $6,012,000 overall prize pool.
Kornuth scored 11 total bounties en route to victory, but he wasn’t able to pull any of the big mystery prizes, with only a couple of $5,000 bonuses.
Although not every prize has been disclosed, one of the $250,000 bounties reportedly went to Alex Nguyen.
The Wynn posted a video of top-ranked tournament pro Stephen Song opening two of his bounty envelopes.

The Wynn Summer Classic will continue until July 19 with another Mystery Bounty event scheduled for July 5-8.
