David Coleman is on fire so far in 2024. The 30-year-old former online poker grinder from New Jersey came into the year without a live tournament title to his name. Midway through January, he has managed three such victories across five final-table finishes, with nearly $411,000 in earnings secured along the way.

Coleman’s most recent victory saw him top a field of 41 entries in event no. 4 of the 2024 PokerGO Tour Kickoff series. This was his second victory and fourth final-table finish at that festival. Both of his wins came in $5,300 buy-in no-limit hold’em tournaments.

Before making his way to the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Coleman scored his very first live title by taking down the Card Player Poker Tour Venetian $1,600 main event. He outlasted 457 entries in that affair to walk away with $115,989 and the trophy.

“I’ve been a pro for nine years and I’ve been playing for fun for 18 years or so,” said Coleman after that first breakthrough victory. “This is my first live tournament win ever, so it’s a big monkey off my back that I’ve really been trying to get off and it feels great to get it done.”

While it had been years and years waiting for that first breakthrough, it took Coleman just five days to find himself hoisting another trophy. He overcame an 89-entry field in the first tournament of the PGT Kickoff to add $120,150 to his tally.

The very next day he placed fifth in event no. 2 for another $31,500 score. Event no. 3 saw him make his way back to heads-up play, only to finish as the runner-up to Justin Young for $69,350.

The day after that close call, Coleman made this most recent final table as the chip leader. He beat out a final table that included the likes of Victoria Livschitz (6th), three-time bracelet winner Justin Bonomo (5th), and rising tournament star Jeremy Becker (3rd) on his way to the title.

Viktor Ustimov finished second for $49,200, growing his career earnings to more than $3.1 million in the process.

Coleman’s incredible start to the year has seen him seize the lead in both the PGT season-long race and the series-long leaderboard with 590 points.

He is also the current leader in the Card Player Player of the Year race, with 1,564 total points across four qualified scores. His most recent win did not award POY points, though, as it failed to meet the minimum required threshold of either more than 50 entries or a prize pool of more than $250,000.

Coleman’s career earnigns have also grown to more than $4 million thanks to his hot start.

Here is a look at the final table payouts from Coleman’s most recent win:

Place Player Earnings PGT Points
1 David Coleman $73,800 148
2 Viktor Ustimov $49,200 98
3 Jeremy Becker $30,750 62
4 Nikita Kalinin $22,550 45
5 Justin Bonomo $16,400 33
6 Victoria Livschitz $12,300 25
