Jerry Wong Wins PokerGO Tour Mixed Games Triple Draw Event

Jerry Wong’s three largest poker tournament scores have all come in no-limit hold’em, including the $1.1 payday he earned for finishing eighth in the 2016 World Series of Poker main event. In recent years, though, Wong has found plenty of success in the mixed games streets, including winning his first WSOP bracelet in last year’s razz championship event.

Wong’s most recent title saw him best a tough field of 47 entries in the 2024 PokerGO Tour Mixed Games $10,200 triple draw mixed event. He earned $164,500 as the last player standing in the tournament, which featured a rotation of badugi, triple draw deuce-to-seven lowball, and triple draw ace-to-five lowball. He now has nearly $6.2 million in career tournament earnings after this latest victory.

This was Wong’s third final-table finish of the year, having placed seventh in a WSOP Circuit high roller event in Florida and fifth in the $10,200 H.O.R.S.E. earlier this series. He now sits inside the top 300 in the 2024 Card Player Player of the Year race presented by Global Poker.

Two of those scores qualified for PGT points as well, moving him into 23rd place in that high-stakes centric race. His 212 points earned this week put him in third position in the player of the series standings.

Wong came into the final day of this even as the chip leader with just four contenders remaining. Seven players made the money, with three being knocked out after the bubble burst late on day 1. The trio that cashed but didn’t move on to day 2 were Philip Sternheimer (7th – $18,800), Hal Rotholz (6th – $28,200), and Felipe Ramos (5th – $37,600).

Wong had more than twice as many chips as his nearest competitor when cards got back in the air for day 2 inside the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino Las Vegas. Six-time bracelet winner John Hennigan (4th – $49,350) was the first to fall when his 9-6-3-2 draw with one pull left was unable to best Wong’s 10-5-4-3-2 playing deuce-to-seven. This was his fourth cash of the festival, including a win in the $5,100 eight-game event. With $256,900 in total earnings so far, Hennigan sits atop the series standings heading into the final four events.

The same game claimed Scott Lake. His chips went in before the final draw with a 9-6-5-3-2. Wong drew one and made a 7-6-4-3-2 for the win, sending Lake home with $68,150 for his efforts.

Wong entered heads-up play with Max Hoffman holding better than a 2:1 chip advantage. He extended that lead even further before the final hand arrived during a round of ace-to-five. The last chips went in before the third draw with Wong holding a pat 8-6-3-2-A. Hoffman was drawing with a 6-5-3-A. He drew a queen and was eliminated in second place ($103,400). This was his third cash of the series. He now trails only Hennigan in the festival’s points race.
