Simon Poker Day Raises More Than €40,000 for HomelessWaterford Man Wins Second-Annual Charity Event for the Homeless |

The atmospheric Industries Hall, RDS, Ballsbridge, Dublin, yesterday (Saturday) hosted 162 players at the second-annual Simon Poker Day, wherein more than €40,000 was raised for the Dublin Simon community.
This brings the total raised so far to almost €100,000. The event is the largest of its kind in Europe and attracted snooker stars Ken Doherty and Steve Davis as well as international footballer Tony Cascarino and former poker world champion Noel Furlong for the €330 buy-in event, of which €100 went directly to charity.
Money was also raised from a sports-memorabilia auction and private donations from players and companies such as PartyPoker, PokerStars, the European Poker Tour, Paddy Power Poker, Green Joker Poker, Ladbrokes, 888, Littlewoods, and The Jackpot Club. Dozens of players traveled from the UK to support the event, as well as others from around the country.
The event was won by Pat Storan from Waterford.
