Neil Channing Wins Warm-Up Event at GUKPT

"Bad Beat" Trumps EPT Winner Julian Thew in £1,000 Buy-In Event at GUKPT

Julian Thew was runner-up to Neil Channing at GUKPT warm-up eventNeil "Bad Beat" Channing won the £35,000 first prize at the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour finals in the Grosvenor Victoria Casino, London, in a £1,000 no-limit hold'em warm-up event which attracted 64 players over the weekend.

Channing recently made the final tables of the £2,500 Great British Poker Tour grand final in Bristol and the £1,000 GUKPT main event in Blackpool.

He beat recent European Poker Tour Baden winner Julian Thew to take down the top prize. Thew scooped £22,000 for his efforts.

The victory brings Channing's winning for 2007 to well over £100,000.

Others cashing in the event were German Davood Mehrmand and Englishman Ian Woodley.
